Grayson Rural Electric offers high school juniors the opportunity to visit Frankfort, Kentucky and Washington D.C. to learn about our country's history. Two students that participate in the Frankfort Youth Tour will be chosen for the Washington D.C. trip.
The Washington Youth Tour is an annual week-long event in June. During that time more than 1,000 high school juniors from across the country travel to Washington DC to learn more about government, cooperatives, and electrification.
During the Washington Youth Tour, delegates will get the opportunity to meet youth from across the country, interact with cooperative and government officials, and visit historic landmarks.
The purpose of the tours is to provide outstanding young people with the opportunity to better understand the value of electricity and how government works and to become more familiar with the historical and political background of the United States.
The application process is open to any high school junior, whose primary residence is in Grayson RECC's service territory. 2019 tours have already passed, but be prepared to apply in 2020. Applications will be distributed to high school guidance counselors and will be available on this site.
